How solar + storage works.

Daytime sun powers your home, charges your battery, and banks the rest with PNM.

Midday. Leftover production charges your battery. Anything beyond that spins the net meter backwards, and PNM credits your “energy bank.”

Select any part of the system, like the battery or the net meter, to see what it does.

1. Panels power your home first.

Sunlight becomes DC electricity, and the inverter turns it into the AC power your home uses.

2. Extra power is stored or banked.

Leftover production charges your battery. Anything beyond that spins the net meter backwards, and PNM credits your “energy bank.”

3. The battery takes over after dark.

Evenings and outages run on stored solar. When the battery is low, the grid fills in as normal.
